"Several Patients" Exploding in Plantation, Florida at Shopping Center: "It's Like an Apocalypse"

Police and fire crews are responding to a "multiple patient" blast at a Florida mall, officials said on Saturday.

The blast was reported at The Fountains Shopping Center in Plantation, just outside of Fort Lauderdale, according to the Plantation Police Department.

The video showed blown windows of a LA Fitness, while a nearby building appeared completely destroyed, with debris scattered in all directions.

"There was a huge flash of light … it lit the whole sky," said a witness at WPLG, an affiliate of ABC Miami. "And it was noisy … this fireworks overtook … your ears rang."

"It sounds like an apocalypse," she said.

All businesses in the area are closed until firefighters deem it safe to return, Plantation police said.

Search dogs are combing through.
