Several people injured when man plunges truck into Hiram bar and grill and shoots customers – WSB-TV Channel 2

Several people were injured after a driver rammed his truck into a restaurant in Hiram on Saturday night as he fired a gun at customers.

The owner of 278 South Bar & Grill has confirmed that a man drove his truck through the main entrance to the building during a concert. Footage from the scene shows a black vehicle with what appears to be bullet holes in the windshield inside the building, which is heavily damaged.

Police identified the driver as Eduardo Morales, 34. Hiram police said Morales was heavily drunk and asked to leave the bar. He left the club but returned in his black Dodge Ram 2500, police said.

Police said Morales then started shooting through the window of the truck. With the clip empty, Morales drove the truck into the bar through the front doors, hitting many customers.

Police said Morales tried to exit the restaurant but the truck got stuck.

Police did not disclose how many victims were injured or what their conditions are. The restaurant owner said a security guard was among the injured.

The club owner said some heroic patrons managed to snatch a gun from the man’s hands.

Police confirmed Morales was trying to reload the gun when it was pulled out of the truck and held by customers until police arrived at the scene.

Morales sustained minor injuries as clients held him. He was taken to Paulding Wellstar Hospital and then to Paulding County Jail.

Police said a person was hit by a bullet and another customer was twice hit by the truck. This person was treated and released. Several other clients also reported several minor injuries.

“We’re still trying to deal with it all,” the owner told Channel 2 Action News. “Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved at this time. They are our main concern.

The restaurant is closed today.

Police said some patrons fled from the bar before police arrived at the scene. Police encourage these individuals to contact Hiram investigators at 770-943-3807.

It is not known what charges Morales is facing. Morales is from Woodstock, police said.
