Sha’Carri Richardson is not shy.
The American sprinter has remained in the news since being banned from the Olympics after testing positive for marijuana, thanks in large part to her vibrant personality. For some, his latest foray into the headlines is a step too far.

Richardson was trending on Twitter on Wednesday thanks to his apparent response to comments Felix made to Stephen A. Smith while he was the host guest of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday. At the end of the interview, Smith asked Felix what she thought of Richardson, whose tumultuous past months have also included his mother’s death.
“She’s obviously been through so much,” said Felix (7:08 above). “I hope she’s just supported. I hope people will rally around her. Obviously, she has a great personality and she has drawn a lot of attention to the sport. I think she will be in sports for a very long time.
“I think more than anything, for all athletes there is so much in there – we just give her, you know, the support she needs.”
It’s the type of dignified response one expects from Felix, one that transcends his status as track royalty to the shortlist of all-time Olympics. The eleven-time Olympic medalist and seven-time Olympic champion has gathered her equipment over five Games. She won her first medal at the age of 18 in Athens in 2004 and her alleged last medal in July in Tokyo as a 35-year-old mother who used her platform to change the game and business of sporty mothers. .
In short, his is one of the most respected voices not only in athletics, but in all sports. And Richardson didn’t hear it.
