GenDesign, the studio made up of developers who have already worked on successful games such as Ico, Shadow of the colossus, and more recently The Last Guardian, started showing what he’s working on next. While there is very little to see about this mysterious project so far, a new image of the game was recently unveiled.
On GenDesign’s official website, the studio updated the site’s homepage to feature a new greeting that wishes fans good luck in 2021. The webpage itself, however, also features a image that showcases four of the games the studio has been working on. The three titles mentioned above in Ico, Shadow of the colossus, and The Last Guardian were featured in the photo, with the fourth game featured clearly being the studio’s latest project.
As for what one can make out of this image from the new mystery game, well, there isn’t much to see. In terms of aesthetics, it looks very much in line with what GenDesign has worked on in the past and features a vibrant color palette. We can also see a figure who appears to be wearing a poncho of some sort standing next to what could be a boulder. Water and grass also surround this character.
While GenDesign has yet to officially reveal what this new title will be, we do know some key details about it. Work on the project is said to have started as early as 2018. Last year it was also announced that Epic Games would fund the development of the game. GenDesign retains full control and ownership of the intellectual property itself while the profits are split 50/50 between the two parties.
It’s unclear exactly when GenDesign’s latest game will arrive, but based on this deal with Epic, it is expected to arrive on a variety of platforms. Despite having previously released all of its games for PlayStation platforms only, now it looks like Xbox and PC gamers will be able to get in on the action in the future.
Hopefully, this first GenDesign match to start the year means the studio is looking to share more about the game in 2021. If that does end up happening, we’ll obviously let you know here on ComicBook.com.
