Shailene Woodley to star in drama series “Three Women” – deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Shailene Woodley (Big little lies) is configured to play the lead role in three women, an hour-long Showtime series based on Lisa Taddeo’s # 1 non-fiction bestseller, which adapts her book.

Showtime, which landed the Hot Book in the summer of 2019 in a major bidding war with a serial engagement, gave the project a direct serial commission, with filming set to begin in the fall. three women is produced by Taddeo, showrunner Laura Eason, Kathy Ciric and Emmy Rossum. Louise Friedberg (Y: The last man) has signed on to direct the first two episodes, which she will also produce.

In Three women, Described as an intimate and haunting representation of American female desire, three women take a crash course to dramatically turn their lives upside down. Lina, a housewife in suburban Indiana, is a decade into a passionless marriage when she embarks on an affair that quickly becomes all-consuming and transforms her life. Gia’s story echoes Taddeo’s journey with Three women, her first non-fiction book, which tells the true story of three American women who have suffered private and / or public backlash for their sexual desires. It took him a decade to research it, report it, and write it down, with Taddeo often traveling to his subjects’ cities to achieve total authenticity. The book was published in 2019 by Simon & Schuster.

This is the third regular role in the series for Woodley following his escape starring The Secret Life of an American Teenager and her Emmy and SAG Award nominated performance in Big little lies. Woodley’s feature credits include The descendants, for which she won a Film Independent Spirit Award, The spectacular now, the Divergent franchise, Blame it on our stars, adrift and Ends, Beginnings. She will be seen in the movie soon Your lover’s last letter and the independent thriller Misanthrope, both that she also produced. Woodley begins production of the film Robots next month.
