Shane Waldron is excited to bring Gerald Everett to the Seahawks

Shane Waldron may be new to the Seattle Seahawks, but at least he’ll have a familiar face as part of his offense next season.

With the Seahawks signing former Los Angeles Rams tight end Gerald Everett last week, Waldron brings to Seattle a player who already has experience in the offensive plan he will seek to implement.

“Gerald brings versatility to any attack, so we’re excited to be able to bring him in here and really use him as a weapon that can move around and do a lot of different things within an offensive structure. “said Waldron, via John Boyle. from the team’s website.

The Seahawks offense has suffered greatly from the lack of a consistent third option in the passing game, especially in the second half of last season. David Moore had a resounding success at first, but it was not a regular occurrence. Phillip Dorsett has missed the entire year due to foot injuries. Greg Olsen also missed a bit of time with a foot injury. Josh Gordon was allowed to return from suspension to reinstate him upon his return to the building in December. While DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have had productive years, teams have started to grab them more consistently without a third element to attack cover adequately.

Everett shared time with Tyler Higbee with the Rams on the tight end. While he hasn’t had any scary numbers in his four years with the Rams, Everett has posted some outstanding games at times. Waldron believes his skills will be beneficial with the Seahawks.

“He has aggressive hands, and he can always seem to find a way to get a man-to-man blanket open rather than tight,” said Waldron. “Then his ability, once the ball is in his hand, to make the first player miss or break that first tackle has always been something that he has always been able to showcase from college to NFL level. So that’s a big plus when it comes to his ability to aggressively attack the ball and get something moving with him once he’s in his hands.

A former second-round pick in 2017, Everett recorded a career-high 41 catches for 417 yards and a touchdown last year for Los Angeles.
