Marvel is definitely feeling confident about their latest. Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings just had its Hollywood premiere well ahead of its scheduled theatrical release and the initial reactions are positive wall-to-wall. Building on this goodwill, Marvel Studios has just announced that they will be hosting special IMAX preview screenings starting tomorrow, with tickets on sale now.

Even though the wide theatrical release Shang-Chi is slated for early September, you may be among the very first fans to see the groundbreaking Asian-American hero in action much sooner than that. Marvel is teaming up with Gofobo to host exclusive IMAX screenings of the upcoming superhero film in 25 regions across the United States and Canada. Before the film, a recorded message from the stars Simu liu and Awkwafina will welcome fans at each screening. If you are lucky enough to live near one of these locations, you can purchase tickets for the event here.

IMAX has always been the premium format of choice for these big, blockbuster events, which Marvel explains very clearly in their announcement:

“Exclusively in IMAX theaters, the entire film shot with IMAX certified digital cameras will visually expand to fill the entire screen, allowing moviegoers to enjoy more of the picture with unprecedented crispness and clarity. That, combined with next-generation IMAX precision sound, creates a truly immersive experience. “

Directed by Destiny Daniel Cretton (Short term 12, Just mercy), Shang-Chi comes with the added responsibility of representing Asians and Asian Americans in the same manner as Black Panther and Captain marvel have already done so for their respective demographics.
