NetherRealm Studios revealed the first character downloadable content on Mortal Kombat 11: the master wizard, Shang Tsung. During a panel at C2E2, a video featuring the character was screened and, surprisingly, she confirmed that he would rely on the 1995 film version.

In the Mortal Kombat movie, the actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa played the role of Shang Tsung, and his resemblance was used for his new iteration. In addition to being the first Mortal Kombat 11 DLC character, Shang Tsung will also serve as an animator, narrator and guide for players when they enter Krypt.

Tsung is one of six playable fighters that will be released as part of the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack. The price of this DLC bundle has not been released, and there is no indication of whether the characters in the DLC bundle have been released. It contains will be published individually. We know that the Kombat Pack is included in the Premium and Kollector editions of the game.

During the stream, NetherRealm also revealed that Noob Saibot would be playable in Mortal Kombat 11. Unlike Shang Tsung, he will be part of the fighters' basic list and will therefore be available as soon as the game is purchased.

For those wishing to get their hands on the game, there will be a beta version of Mortal Kombat 11 starting Wednesday, March 27 at 8:00 am (Eastern Time). It will run until Sunday, March 31 at 23:59 Pacific Time. It is open to anyone who has ordered a copy of the game on PS4 or Xbox One in advance. The beta will feature five playable characters: Baraka, Jade, Kabal, Scarlet and Scorpio. The complete list of characters is much larger and we expect more fighters to be announced before the release.

If you pre-order, you'll also get Shao Kahn as a playable character when the game comes out on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch on April 23rd.
