Sharon Osbourne says ‘CBS blinded me’ with heated discussion from Piers Morgan on ‘The Talk’

Sharon Osbourne alleges that CBS executives apparently ordered the producers of “The Talk” to have her co-hosts “blind” her with questions about her controversial tweet defending Piers Morgan.

“I blame the network for it,” Osbourne said Variety Friday night. “I was blind, totally blind from the whole situation. In 11 years, this was the first time that I was not involved in the planning of the segment. “

Osbourne says about eight minutes before the show started on Wednesday, the showrunners called her and asked if everything was okay if they asked about Morgan.

“I said, ‘Sure, they can ask me anything.’ But then I get there, I say my article and Sheryl (Underwood) turns bluntly, looks at me and reads a card with questions, ”she says. “I was so hurt, caught off guard and stunned by what was asked of me and not prepared. I was honestly in shock. I felt like I was in front of a firing squad. I felt like a lamb destined for slaughter. … They had me there for 20 minutes.

When they went for a break, Osbourne said she “begged them to stop, change the subject please”.

His heated exchange with Underwood has gone viral.

“I am a big girl. I am a professional, ”she said. “However, CBS blinded me. I don’t know why they did this to me. The showrunners told me it’s the leaders doing this to me.

A CBS representative declined to comment on Osbourne’s final remarks, but referred Variety to the network’s statement released Friday afternoon: “We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace. All matters relating to the Wednesday episode of “The Talk” are currently under internal review. “

Osbourne has apologized on Twitter following his heated discussion with Underwood.

“After some thought, after sitting down with your comments and sitting down with my heart, I would like to bring up the discussion on ‘The Talk’ last Wednesday. I have always been greeted with so much love and support from the black community and I have a deep respect and love for the black community. To anyone of color I’ve offended and / or anyone who feels confused or disappointed with what I’ve said, I’m so sorry, ”she tweeted. “I panicked, felt blind, got on the defensive and let my fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over. There are very few things that hurt my heart more than racism, so feeling associated with it made me spin fast! I’m not perfect, I’m still learning like all of us and will continue to learn, listen and do better.

She said Variety Friday: “I am a work in progress. I want to learn, I am ready to learn. “

“I want to make this world a better place, but I don’t like being put in a situation that I’m unprepared for and wondering about. I felt like I was on the witness stand with two prosecutors on either side of me. Do you want to ask me questions? I am a team player. Let me know what the questions are so I can prepare. I am a book open to everyone. “

Osbourne’s final remarks come just hours after former ‘The Talk’ co-host Holly Robinson Peete tweeted: ‘I’m old enough to remember when Sharon complained that I was too ‘ghetto’ for # theTalk… so I was gone. ”

“It’s an absolute lie – a 110% lie,” Osbourne said Variety. “I can’t get anyone fired… and that’s not a term I use. It is not part of my vocabulary. I don’t speak like that. The only ghetto I know of is the Warsaw ghetto and I think this is the only time I speak of something like this.
