Sharon Stone defends Christian Bale’s past on film sets

Wednesday The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, actress Sharon Stone has defended Christian Bale against the negative reactions he has received from film crews. Stone, who was promoting his memoir The beauty of living twice, she was asked if she wanted to atone for the explosions on set, but instead chose to defend Bale.

“I wouldn’t say much to myself, but I can definitely say I see that with such brilliant actors, you know,” Stone said. “Christian Bale, who completely transforms into someone else, whether he’s playing George Bush or playing an anorexic or playing OCD, you know, broker, he’s becoming a different person.”

In 2009, a video of Bale yelling at a scout on the set of Hi Terminator. While Bale apologized for the explosion, which left him labeled as difficult to work with, Stone doesn’t think it was such a big deal.

“People, you know, want to go into his business while he’s trying to completely transform into a different person,” Stone said. “Then he said, ‘Get away from me!’ And then they want to blame him for not being available to them. I find it kinda… you know, maybe they should just grow up. “

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weekdays at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
