Rikers Island is so bad that even former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort does not deserve to go, Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King said on Twitter.

King tweeted his thoughts on Tuesday after Fox News reported that Manafort, who is serving a federal prison sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion, will be transferred to Riker's Island later this week.

"I see people excited to see Paul Manafort sent to Rikers Island and placed in solitary confinement," tweeted King. "We must be so motivated in our calls for reform that we even want them for our enemies."

Rikers, who owns nine of New York City's thirteen prisons, is known for his brutal violence, corruption and gang rivalry. Among the Rikers' inmates are some of the most notorious criminals of the twentieth century, including the "Son of Sam" and Mark David Chapman, the man who shot John Lennon. Despite millions of people invested in reform efforts, violence has intensified in recent years.

While it may be "exciting" to see some "privilege" sent to a place where "hundreds of thousands of us have been sent", Rikers remains a "hell where no one should go . Even Paul Manafort, "added King.
