Shaun Livingston, Peoria's pride, announced Friday on Instagram that he would leave the NBA.

In his Instagram post, he stated that he was "enthusiastic, sad, lucky and grateful".

The 15-year-old NBA veteran has spent the last 5 years with the Golden State Warriors, winning three championships.

In July, Golden State gave up its intention and expressed interest in returning to the league for potentially playing with the Los Angeles Clippers in an interview with the Peoria Journal Star.

In 2004, Livingston was No. 4 overall in Peoria High, written by the Clippers.

Shaun Livingston is the player, youth advocate and youth advocate that many inner-city residents of Illinois admire.

He showed determination after a knee injury that would have ended the career of many other players.

He also tore his meniscus and was injured at MCL, among other injuries; yet he came back and excelled in the NBA career.

He has constantly returned to central Illinois to give back to the community and show his love and gratitude to his hometown through charity.

Livingston has ended on his own terms with his head held up as an NBA champion and beloved member of one of the largest teams in the history of the NBA.
