The Grammy-winning HER singer wowed Super Bowl LV viewers with her performance of “America the Beautiful” on Sunday.

She was followed by Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan, who were the first duo to sing “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl for over a decade. As for the legendary performance at half-time, the Weeknd will occupy central ground.
She said Entertainment tonight in a recent interview, when she was “quite nervous” to perform on the biggest stage in the world, she felt “blessed” for the opportunity.
“Honestly, I’m so excited to play the Super Bowl. It’s a huge scene and it doesn’t get bigger, you know?” said the 23-year-old. “But I think the goal for me is to do [the song] mine. I’m a big fan of the different versions of ‘America the Beautiful’, but I really want to bring different elements to it … make it HER “
HER was born in Vallejo, California, and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Performing this iconic song at an unprecedented time for the country, she shared how much it meant to her to be a part of this moment.
“I think the # 1 thing I think about a lot is the fact that I’m a black girl from the Bay Area, who never imagined that I would be on a stage like this,” said she declared. “I think that’s a message to other young black women that you can do that too.”
