Rookie forward Jessica Shepard will be out for the rest of the season after suffering an ACL tear in her right knee, the Minnesota Lynx said Sunday.

Shepard's injury was confirmed by an MRI taken at the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis. The Lynx say that it will be operated at a date to be determined.

Shepard was injured in the knee during the 89-85 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday. The injury occurred while there was 1 minute and 42 seconds left when the Fremont graduate took a chance and got injured. Shepard fell to the ground, suffering, and had to be helped in the tunnel of the arena.

Shepard was a second round pick of Notre Dame. In her first season in WNBA, Shepard, who is 6-foot-3, averaged 4.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists in six games with the Lynx.

Shepard tore ACL's left knee during his last season at Fremont. She bounced back and was named Big Ten freshman of the year during her first season in Nebraska.
