VANCOUVER, Wash .– A sheriff’s deputy was shot dead Friday night in Vancouver, Wash., Authorities said.
Two people of interest have been arrested and authorities are looking for a third person of interest, Vancouver police said.
The shooting took place at an apartment complex in east Vancouver just before 7 p.m. and the deputy later died at a local hospital, The Columbian reported.
The Southwest Washington Regional Major Crime Team is investigating, Vancouver Police Department spokesman Kim Kapp said early Saturday in a press release.
The member’s name has not been released. No other information on what happened during the incident has been made public.
On Friday evening, the sheriff’s office confirmed in a statement that the deputy had died.
“This is a difficult time for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement agencies in Clark County and surrounding Clark County in the greater Portland area,” the statement said. . “Clark County law enforcement values the community’s support and understanding during these difficult times.”
