The group marks its 16th leader, passing Three Days Grace.

The Florida band’s latest single, “Atlas Falls,” climbs 2-1 to become Shinedown’s 16th number one on the Aug. 22 chart.
Led by vocalist Brent Smith, along with Eric Bass, Barry Kerch and Zach Myers, Shinedown takes exclusive possession of the largest number of No.1s in the archives of the Three Days Grace tally, which was first mapped to less than four months after Shinedown’s first appearance; Shinedown arrived with “Fly From the Inside” on the April 19, 2003 card, while TDG followed with “(I Hate) Everything About You” on the August 2, 2003 list.
Three Days Grace had taken over for the largest number of No.1s in September 2018, when “Infra-Red” became its 14th leader, surpassing Van Halen.

“Atlas Falls” was released in 2020 after being originally recorded during the band’s 2012 album sessions Amaryllis. Prior to his arrival on streaming DSPs, he debuted as part of a t-shirt set that raised money for COVID-19 relief through Direct Relief.

Two years after the release of Shinedown’s last album, 2018 Warning warning, Smith and guitarist Myers will be relaunching the Smith & Myers duo this week with a new song, “Not Mad Enough”, as well as a cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin ‘in the Free World” on August 21, followed by the first from the full album duo (after two acoustic EPs in 2014), scheduled for October on Atlantic Records.
