Shooter Tells Dad He “Broke”, Killed 4 People, Drove With Bodies For Hours Before Leaving Them In A Wisconsin Cornfield – Twin Cities

After shooting four people inside an SUV, authorities say Antoine Darnique Suggs drove in Saint-Paul for hours, stopped to speak with his mother, got gasoline and a glass, and asked his father to follow him to Wisconsin where he dumped the vehicle in a cornfield.

He entered and exited the car containing the bodies for about seven hours, according to a timeline established by police using video footage, cell phone data and witness reports presented in the criminal charges.

So much blood had collected in the SUV that the police found puddles of it in various places where it had parked.

“Suggs told his father he broke and shot a few people,” is all the criminal complaint offers as the ground for the quadruple homicide.

Suggs, 38, was charged Tuesday by Ramsey County District Court with four counts of second degree murder with intent to shoot siblings Jasmine Christine Sturm, 30, and Matthew Isiah Pettus, 26 , both of St. Paul; and friends Nitosha Lee Flug-Presley, 30, of Stillwater; and Loyace Foreman III, 35, of Saint-Paul.

POLICE CALENDAR OF EVENTS

According to the police investigation, the events leading to their deaths took place over a period of two to three hours in the early morning hours of September 12:

• 1 a.m. – Witnesses told police that Sturm and Foreman, who were dating, and Pettus were hanging out on the patio of the Shamrocks bar at 955 W. Seventh St. in St. Paul.
• After 1 a.m. – An employee of the White Squirrel Bar, located at 974 W. Seventh St. in St. Paul, told police that Sturm had entered and that Flug-Presley was with a man who looked like Suggs.
• 1:38 AM – Investigators found a receipt for the white squirrel from a purchase by Foreman. A witness told police the group got into a black SUV, a Mercedes.
• 2:50 am – Suggs returns to the white squirrel.
• 3:08 AM – Foreman creates a phone contact for Suggs, based on phone data.
• 3:30 am – Suggs phone and Mercedes park for a while. That’s when the police believe Suggs shot the four.
• 3:48 AM – Surveillance footage shows the Mercedes heading west on Seventh Street toward McDonald’s near Madison Street. The SUV then headed for Shepard Road, but returned to Seventh Street and headed east. CCTV captures the passenger side and it appears Flug-Presley is slumped in the seat.
• 4:30 am – Suggs makes a phone call to his father, Darren Lee Osborne, 56, of St. Paul.
• 5:00 am – Suggs meets Osborne. Suggs tells his father he shot people and asks him to follow him into another vehicle so he can dump the car and drive back.
• 7:42 a.m. – Surveillance footage from University Avenue and Eustis Street shows the Mercedes following a Nissan Rogue. Flug-Presley is seen slumped in the same position she was found dead hours later.
• 9:48 a.m. – Video of Holiday gas station at 281 N. Snelling Ave. shows the Mercedes to a gas pump. Flug-Presley’s body is visible. Suggs entered the store.
• 10:06 a.m. – Cell tower data shows Pettus’ phone in the area of ​​Interstate 94 and Dale Street heading east toward Wisconsin.
• 10:26 a.m. – Minnesota Department of Transportation video shows the Mercedes and Nissan at the Minnesota-Wisconsin border.
• 2:18 p.m. – The Mercedes and the four bodies are discovered in a cornfield in Dunn County, Wisconsin.

FOUR VIOLENT DEATH

The violence of the victims’ deaths can be seen through the Ramsey County medical examiner’s autopsy reports detailed in the complaint.

Flug-Presley had a gunshot wound that entered his mouth and the back of his head. Pettus had two gunshot wounds to the back of his head and a third gunshot wound to the left arm. Foreman had a gunshot wound to the face and the top of his head. Sturm had a gunshot wound that went through his left palm and his face.

Dunn County authorities last week indicted Suggs on four counts of hiding a dead body. Suggs, who had returned to his home in Arizona, surrendered to authorities.

Police still don’t know what prompted Suggs to kill the four people he was hanging out with early Sunday morning. The criminal complaint gives some clues.

A witness said Suggs was arguing with the white squirrel and said something like “having six kids and that happens every time he comes back to Minnesota.”

Osborne told police Suggs spoke to him and his mother about looking after his children and trying to get along, according to the complaint.

‘HE BROKEN AND SHOT A COUPLE OF PEOPLE’

When Suggs was alone with his father, Suggs told him that “he took a picture and shot a few people” and that “the shooting took place in the vehicle on Seventh Street,” the criminal complaint states.

After following Suggs to Wisconsin, Osborne dropped him off in Minneapolis. Osborne denied knowing there were any bodies in the SUV. When the two made their way to the border, they left their phones in Saint-Paul, the complaint says.

“The phones never physically passed the Lexington Parkway and Interstate 94 area,” the complaint states.

Suggs was previously convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He also has a previous conviction for aggravated domestic violence.

Suggs is still being held in Arizona pending his extradition. The Ramsey County District Attorney’s Office is asking that the bond be set at $ 10 million.
