Should I give my money to Elon?

I know there is some kind of stereotype about a certain type of fan of Tesla / adoring Elon Musk, who is terribly obsessed, and who is probably an unfair categorization of most Tesla fans. But then you see something like this recent discussion on the r / TeslaMotors forum from Reddit, and you remember that, oh yes, stereotypes sometimes come from somewhere.

The OP has since deleted its original proposal, probably once they found the backlash that ensues, but quick watchers like this one have noticed. Tesla Observer were there to prove once again that the Internet never forgets:

So, if you read this, you can see that Tesla-Tesla is wondering if it might not be a good idea for Tesla owners who use Tesla's competing Uber carpool app to earn money from Extra money, you know, give Tesla half or more of the money they would earn?

Here's how Tesla-Tesla says it:

"Let's say that Tesla takes a minimum of 30%, but allows you in the app to allow Tesla to take more than 90%. Would you be willing to give them 50%, 75%? Do not forget that you still spend your time driving behind the wheel …

… if a large enough group were willing to let Tesla take 50% or more, it would be a pure profit for the company and it could really boost quarterly financial results and stock prices … "

The share price part is also interesting because it identifies itself as a "Tesla investor," suggesting that they may not be such a delusional tool from Elon Musk. that he is a savvy and cunning investor.

All they have to do is convince each Tesla owner to work to earn money for the company for free and, boom, cha – ching, baby! The business is profitable and Tesla-Tesla does the housework! The stock price goes up and then they earn a lot of money! That they then put back in Tesla! Genius! A self-perpetuating cycle!

It also mentions how this will help provide data for the possible emergence of autonomous self-driving robots (FSD) and private cars, for this to happen sooner.

Essentially, this poster simply asks if anyone who owns a Tesla would be willing to work as an Uber driver and give Tesla at least half or even all the money earned? Why not work for free for a for-profit company?

What the hell is going on with people? What happened to get into stupid battles over the automaker's brand loyalty and stabbing themselves from time to time? I think I respect that much more than being a poor, deceived sap who is seriously considering giving money directly to a private, for-profit company.

The discussion on the original message certainly has a lot of people who are not as delusional about thinking that it's something that makes sense, although there's a disturbing number of patsies out there that seem willing to think about it:

… even if this commentator is doubly delusional if they think that Tesla will "clean the car".

Others are less in the idea:

The reality is so fucking weird right now.
