Joey Hauser and Sam Hauser announced that they would leave Marquette to continue their transfer.
This is important news on several fronts, the most obvious being that it derailed a Marquette team that was to rank among the top five teams of the pre-season next season. Between them and star guard Markus Howard, the Golden Eagles were well prepared to host an NCAA tournament in depth next season. Alas, these hopes have probably been defeated and another team hopes to take advantage in 2020-2021.
In three seasons, Sam, a 6-8 striker, has started 97 games averaging 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 402 against three. He shot 48.7% (!) Of depth as a sophomore. Although he is senior for next season, he will not graduate this summer. Thus, he can not be a graduate transfer and will sit to play one in 2020-2021.
Joey, a 6-9-year-old striker, started 31 games in his first-year campaign as a redshirt in 2018-2019 and had 9.7 points and 5.3 boards per game. He shot 42.5% of the deepest.
The first indications are that the Cavaliers of Virginia are the favorites, but they want to consider several options.

Could the Kentucky Wildcats enter the game, and should they?
Kentucky rarely pursued transfers that had to pass a season. Ryan Harrow was last, but the Hauser twins seem much more promising. Sam and Joey would form a good duet with 3 and 4 places, while Joey could probably sneak in minutes to 5 (he played 26% of the time in their last 5 games, by KenPom).
Getting both players would immediately make Kentucky a major threat in 2020-2021, assuming some players in the 2019-20 group stay around. But if Kentucky landed them, it would probably hurt them with several rookies of 2020, probably five-star forward Jalen Johnson, five-star striker Scottie Barnes, five-star forward Cade Cunningham and maybe even five-star striker Isaiah Todd. The 5-star guard Brandon Boston would probably spend a lot of time at 3, which could affect him as well.
But Kentucky is not a definite leader for any of these guys except Todd. If you can get impact players like Sam and Joey now, Kentucky should definitely try their luck.
