Chris Eubank Jr. won tonight on the world super middleweight stage with a unanimously deserved victory over former world champion James DeGale.
Now improving his record to 28-2 (21KO), the winner spoke after the fight,
I knew he was going to run and use his boxing skills. I have worked a lot on my jab … The game plan worked. Smart pressure. Do not take too much in advance of myself.
I dominated just about every round. Many people said that I was going to lose, and now I am living great and better things. "

DeGale's defeat, now 25-3-1 (15KO), looking a little dazed also spoke: "# 39; I left my mark in boxing … I have not done enough, but when you're there with someone like Chris on you; punches that you do not even see.

It was cold in the O2 Arena, but not for long.
As James DeGale and Chris Eubank Jr approached, the atmosphere felt more claustrophobic. As if the crowd advanced one seat each time the stewards looked away. By the time the main fighters were in the ring, the public was almost breathing in their necks.
From the first lap, everything was perfectly settled, DeGale black and Eubank white, but both decided to carve a place. DeGale, in the south leg position, was a bit too sensitive to Eubank's right hand, which forced a small cut in James' left eye.
The first minute of turn 2 is the moment when the action comes to life. Eubank Jr grabbed a strong left hook that left DeGale unbalanced and, after a series of punches, finally forced the referee to recognize that James had been knocked down. DeGale's experience was revealing as he had survived the rest of the round, but it was obvious that Chris was on top.
In one corner, the former IBF champion was complaining about something in his eyes – it was a bad sign for a man already behind. But Eubank, like his opponent, suffered a cut this time under his right eye, this did not prevent the Brighton man to finish the 4th strongest. Until the 7th, Eubank tracked down the suspected boxer through the ring while the former gold medalist fought very little.
At the end of round 7, DeGale shot his opponent's tongue out, which was odd considering Chris seemed to have dominated the end of the round. DeGale continued to alternate between the paternal and the orthodox, but neither escaped.
While the fight was heading towards the 10th Eubank seemed well on top. DeGale hit the canvas for the second time while Eubank caught the beauty of a left hook that shook the former world champion, forced James to put the rope and finally to the ground . DeGale survived, but it was obvious that he needed the knockout, but that is Eubank Jr who came out. By the end of the 11th birthday, DeGale, his career right-hand man, was orthodox and ubiquitous.
Both fighters raised their arms when the last bell rang, but it seemed clear that the one who had won the victory. DeGale, the former legitimate holder of the world title, was way off the mark.
Of course, hearing Jimmy Lennon Jr is never a chore and it was not this time, as he was reading the judges' cards, 114-112, 115-112, 117-109, all for Eubank Jr. .
Joe Joyce vs Bermane Stiverne
Joe 'The Juggernaut' Joyce improved her quality again tonight, as the British Olympic athlete (2016 silver) scored a save in the sixth round of former world champion Bermane Stiverne.
Dominating from start to finish, the Commonwealth Champion, now 8-0 (8KO), spoke after the fight,
"Great respect to Stiverne. He was very hard, always at stake, always in trouble. Only Wilder with this phenomenal power could drive him away … My health in Big Bear.
Big things ahead. Next for the WBA 'Regular'. A few weeks off, then back to the gym … I barred the bar to Wilder (the heavyweights), but I'm coming. "
In a fight called the WBA eliminator, Joyce had her chin checked at least twice in the first round, but did not seem affected and continued to pursue her prey. His shots may seem slow, but Joe's arms are long and protruding and clearly have an effect. Stiverne looked worried when he got off his stool for the second but he began to recover, but only for a brief period. The "Juggernaut" shot after the fact, shot after blow, unanswered for most of the round. Testament to the former world champion, Bermane, to stay up.
The third round resulted in the first knockout when Joyce put a long right hook that sent the American into the ropes and forced the overthrow. Bermane continued but it seemed useless. Stiverne seemed drunk as he tried to avoid the heavy combinations of Joyce but survived until the 6th.
Joe dominated behind the left jab until he seems to change his flavor and continuously pulls up and down, forcing referee Howard Foster to end the bout midway through the sixth round. There was no complaint of the fighter on the outside.
Lee Selby vs. Omar Douglas
Fighter in his first lightweight fight, and for a minor title at 135 pounds, Lee 'Lightning' Selby was recovering from his loss to Josh Warrington in May 2018 to defeat in the unanimous win over the US Omar Douglas in 12 decisions.
"It was one of the most difficult." Said Selby. "In the fight, I continued to undo their good work (his cut men).
Douglas was supposed to be a big hitter and I was shooting well … If my management told me that I would fight Anthony Joshua tomorrow, I would not refuse it. "
In his short white and gold signature, Selby of Wales, imposed an energetic departure to the American. Lee obviously wanted to get an idea early in what was a new division for him. Douglas' fears (white at first but red at the end) were wrapped in the same way as his hands. So every time Selby picked up a clean shot, Omar shook his head and made him look like Ridley Scott's Alien.
But towards the end of the second run, Lee Selby opened his mouth, as in his fight against Warrington. That did not flout his performance for this round, but it created a new element in combat. The Welshman continued to shoot well despite the cut, but it was clear that Lee was not as urgent in his attack as before the cut.
Over the course of his career, Omar saw his career rebound between 130 and 135. As he progressed in the heats, he gave Lee, who weighed 9 pounds, a tough entry into the lightweight category. At the time of the final ring, it was clear and obvious that 'Lightning' had taken the rough lane to enter 135lb.
The final scorecards were 116-112, 116-112, 115-114 in favor of Lee Selby.
