We spent months playing “Will she / will she” with Hailee Steinfeld and the role of Kate Bishop in Hawk Eye, but recent filming photos finally confirmed that she was cast for the role of Young Avenger.
During this time, we have heard conflicting reports about the heist. Some said it was due to Steinfeld’s engagements with Dickinson, while others thought the actress might not be sure she would sign up for multiple projects. After all, we expect Hawk Eye will serve as a passing torch, and Kate’s role as the Young Avenger will likely keep Steinfeld busy for years to come.
Well, in a recent interview with Collider, Steinfeld made it clear that long-term enrollment is never an issue, pointing out that, “It was a wonderful experience, developing this character and taking elements of her from the comics and what we know about her story. It’s just very exciting to play a character so loved by so many people.”
As for this multi-project agreement, she said: “It didn’t play out for any reason I wouldn’t want to be involved, that’s for sure. My music is something I can do on the road and on the go. Simultaneously with my playing, it’s obviously a bit more. tough, but luckily it’s something I can continue and I have continued to do and work while working on these shows. “
That clears things up, while also indicating that Steinfeld is here to stay as the MCU’s new archer.
What’s the plan for her beyond Hawk Eye remains to be seen, but there’s a good chance we’ll see her assemble alongside the rest of the Young Avengers in the not too distant future. As to where this could happen, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is probably the most likely possibility!

Confirmed: Maya Lopez / Echo (Alaqua Cox)
Introduced in the pages of Daredevil, Maya Lopez’s father was killed by Wilson Fisk, the kingpin of crime.
Manipulated by the villain to target the Fearless Man after spending years being trained as an assassin, Echo has photographic reflexes not all that different from Taskmaster’s.
One of the few deaf superheroes, Echo is of Native American descent and was the first Ronin. This ties her to Clint Barton, and it’s possible that she’s tasked with killing Hawkeye as she once was Daredevil. Alaqua Cox makes her debut in Hawk Eye, and given his age, it seems likely that Echo is a serious candidate to join the Young Avengers.
He’s a formidable character, and his unique face painting will hopefully be part of Hawk Eye too.
Confirmed: William Lopez (Zahn McClarnon)
Known as Willie “Crazy Horse” Lincoln in the comics, William Lopez is played by Zahn McClarnon in Hawk Eye.
The actor is best known for his performances as Police Chief Mathias in Longmire, Hanzee Dent in the second season of Fargo, and Akecheta in the second season of Westworld. He’s incredible acting talent and hopefully the opportunity to shine by Marvel Studios.
As noted, Lopez was killed by the Kingpin in the comics and left a bloody handprint on Maya’s face in her final moments. It was with that same dying breath that he asked the man who fatally injured him, Wilson Fisk, to take care of his daughter.
How well will this be explored Hawk Eye is up for debate, but Fisk is unlikely to appear.
Confirmed: Jack Duquesne / Swordsman (Tony Dalton)
Jacques Duquesne, renamed Jack Duquesne for Hawk Eye, began his career in the circus. He spent years training Hawkeye to be his protégé, but Clint Barton caught him stealing money from their employers and reported his mentor to the police.
Beating half-dead Clint, he went on the run and became the mercenary known as the Swordsman.
Its history has been fascinating. Starting his career as a villain, he tried unsuccessfully to infiltrate the Avengers, only to be exposed. He would later fight them alongside Egghead, the Batroc Brigade, and the Deadly Legion. Meeting Mantis, he found redemption and joined the Avengers for real.
Tony Dalton plays Swordsman in the MCU, and if you’ve seen his work in You better call Saul, you will know that he has a lot to contribute Hawk Eye.
Confirmed: Eleanor Bishop (Vera Farmiga)
The face of New Line’s resounding success Conjuring franchise, Vera Farmiga joining the MCU is a huge plus for Marvel Studios. However, it’s hard to imagine her playing only Kate Bishop’s mother.
Kate comes from a wealthy family and her mother is said to have died a long time ago.
Later it would be revealed that he was alive and directing the activities of his daughter’s nemesis, Madame Masque. With this villain appearing in Hawk Eye, don’t be surprised if the series combines her and Eleanor to create a villain who will raise the stakes on a personal level.
Farmiga also appeared in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Motel Bates.
Confirmed: Kazi / Clown (Fresh Fra)
Wretched Star Fra Fee was cast for the role of Kazi, a character believed to be Kazimierz Kazimierczak.
Better known as the Psychotic Clown, he moved to America after his circus family was killed in armed conflict. It goes without saying that we would expect him to be related to Clint Barton in some way or another, but either way, this mercenary will pose a serious threat to both Hawkeyes.
Trauma from his past led him down a dark path, and Clown was tasked by the leader of the “Tracksuit Draculas” to kill Clint, and tormented the Avenger by murdering his neighbors.
It is unlikely that it will be Hawk EyeIt’s very bad, but he’s a villain worth watching.
Confirmed: Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh)
Florence Pugh to make her MCU debut in Black Widow next May, in the role of Yelena Belova. Often portrayed as a villain in the comics, this version of the character is Natasha Romanoff’s “little sister”.
Without seeing this delayed movie, it’s hard to predict what role she’ll play in. Hawk Eye.
However, with the Disney + series set for 2025 (the year after Avengers: Endgame), it seems reasonable to assume that she has now become the new Black Widow. If she’s a part of General Ross’s Thunderbolts, however, her role in the series could be very different from that prediction.
It’s just nice to know that Pugh is staying.

A member of the Young Avengers in the comics who took the Hawkeye mantle for herself after Clint’s apparent disappearance in Disassembled avengersKate then trained alongside the Avenger and a strong bond formed (although one that often sees them shoot at each other).
Much more than just a Hawkeye woman, Kate is a fantastic character in her own right.
Steinfeld delivered his breakout performance in 2010 True Grit and has been critically acclaimed for her work Bumblebee and Apple TV + series Dickinson.
Confirmed: Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner)
It won’t shock you to hear that Jeremy Renner is reprising the role of Hawkeye in a series named Hawk Eye, but the archer has been enough in recent years to justify the existence of this spectacle.
In the five years he was away from his family, Clint became Ronin and slaughtered those he felt deserved to die instead of his family. It won’t be easy to get back on such a dark road and that could explain why he seems to be living in Brooklyn instead of living on the farm with his family.
This isn’t the biggest change Hawkeye is expected to go through, however.
Photos from the set confirmed that Clint now wears hearing aids, indicating that Marvel Studios plans to explore the hero’s hearing loss as the comics have done in recent years.
Rumor: Mockingbird
Mockingbird made its live-action debut in Agents of SHIELD, but Adrianne Palicki’s stint as Bobbi Morse was short-lived, and a planned spinoff never resulted in ABC.
It’s been said that Clint Barton’s ex-wife in the comics will be part of Hawkeye, and if that’s true, that means the character is in the process of being rebooted by Marvel Studios. Whether they are romantically involved now or in the past has not been revealed, but it is doubtful whether they ever married.
Without any mention of Mockingbird in this casting news, that probably isn’t happening.
However, if we see Bobbi joining Clint in Hawk Eye, the MCU will have added an important new character who can impact many stories in Phase 4 and beyond.
Rumor: Trickshot
Swordsman’s presence in Hawk Eye is a strong indication that Clint Barton’s past will be explored. For this reason, it’s no surprise that this occasional anti-hero and villain appears.
An origin story for the former SHIELD agent is long overdue, and if it does, it will almost certainly end up involving Trickshot, Clint’s brother.
Clint and Barney grew up together in an orphanage, but then ran away and joined the Carson Carnival of Traveling Wonder as revelers. With Clint favored by Swordsman, Barney grew jealous and separated from his brother when he joined the military and later the FBI.
Brainwashed by Baron Zemo after his apparent death, Barney would torment Hawkeye as the Trickshot.
