Bokeh Game Studio imagines a new nightmare

Keiichiro Toyama, the driving force behind silent Hill, Mermaid, and Gravity rush, left Sony to form an independent studio Bokeh game studio with Kazunobu Sato (the producer of The Last Guardian and a character creator for Mermaid) and Junya Okura (the main designer of the game Gravity rush series).

In their newly established Bokeh game studio, Toyama hopes to “meet our fans’ expectations” while enjoying “how much fun it is to make games” again with more freedom. “Honestly, I can’t forget the atmosphere we were working in at the time,” he said. “Do things on a whim. Just improvise.”

“Many people we have worked with in the past also join us,” Sato said.

In the intro video, there are some great concept art glimpses for a decidedly body horror project. It feels like the end of an era in many ways, but I’m so disheartened to be scared again.
