Silent Hills for PS5 “ confirmed ” by God Of War: Ragnarok Leaker

One credited leaker has said that Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills may be back on track as a PlayStation 5 exclusive led by its original creative team.

A hitherto reliable leaker of Playstation 5 as God of War: Ragnorok games hit again, hinting that Silent Hills may be on the way after all in one form or another. The horror game was originally intended to be a project of the famous Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima in collaboration with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and star actor Norman Reedus. This has been confirmed thanks to the PS4 PT, a playable teaser of the game that was released during E3 2014 to criticism and high expectations from gamers. The project was believed to have collapsed after Kojima’s much publicized departure from Konami (leading to his independent formation from Kojima Studios and Death Stranding), but it looks like the company is finally moving forward with several blockbusters based on its work.

The same man who knew God of War: Ragnorok before his revelation also promised that a Metal Gear Solid the remake is coming, allegedly coming from Souls of the demon“Bluepoint Games. After Konami’s pitiful attempt to create its own entry into the Metal gear franchise with the much-maligned Metal Gear Survive was completely dismissed by critics and the public alike, a third-party remake of the game that put the series on the map seems like a logical way forward.

The second game disclosed by YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead in a recent podcast is Silent Hills, a game he claims to be “almost fully confirmed. He claims that Konami and Hideo Kojima were able to come to an agreement that would allow the game’s creator to continue the work he started before leaving the publisher. It would be a huge move and totally unprecedented, because Konami has launched Kojima in an unpleasant way, and Kojima has since denied any involvement in the Metal gear and silent Hill franchises.

There is another detail about the game that could let players know when they will see more. As some might expect given the history between Hideo Kojima and Geoff Keighley, the announcement of Silent Hills could be one of the big reveal at this year’s Game Awards. Keighley has been outspoken about Konami’s treatment of Kojima, using his Game Awards platform to condemn the publisher. Therefore, it could be a big PR move for Konami to make a splash on this stage while working with the developer they previously publicly abused.

During the conversation, Moore’s Law died dropping another Playstation treat which is quite interesting. Sony has apparently seen gameplay reveals and other announcements, both because their entire PS5 offering sells out instantly and because they lack competition on the exclusives front. Right now, that’s probably the right position, as Xbox’s exclusive lineup is still mostly under wraps and in development at their new studios. At the same time, it’s another indicator of Sony’s arrogance in this generation, and it could cost them dearly in the future. Sony still treats this coming period as a battle between consoles, but exclusive games will matter a little less in a battle of online platforms.
