Simon Cowell broke his back in an electric bicycle accident in August and had to undergo major surgery to repair the damage.
“America’s Got Talent” judge, 61, reflected on the life-changing experience in a new interview.
“It could have been a lot worse. When I saw the x-ray I really almost broke my spine to pieces so I literally couldn’t have walked,” he told “Extra” on Thursday. .
Cowell said he knew he broke his immediately after he fell.

“You’re not supposed to get up, but I kind of got carried away to my room, which is right there at the end of the house, and I’m lying there and passed out.” I mean, it was just surreal, ”he recalls.
The TV personality revealed that her partner Lauren Silverman and their 7-year-old son Eric were huge supports during the surgery and recovery period.
“She was amazing. Her and Eric, they were like my support. I couldn’t have done it without them, so we got closer,” he gushed.
“The hardest part was, and I told Lauren when I got out of the hospital I was so embarrassed to come home, looking at around 100 [years old] because I couldn’t walk, and I have these metal rods in my back and all these screws, ”Cowell said.

The former “American Idol” judge admitted he didn’t know how to explain the situation to his son but revealed it “[Lauren] Obviously he said something to him because he walked in and I was lying in my bed and he said, “Daddy, you’re like Iron Man”, and I thought it was was the sweetest thing and that meant a lot. “
Cowell also confessed that the accident was an extremely humbling experience.

“I’ve never been in this situation in my life where you literally can’t move,” he said. “The pain was out of this world and everything. But you have to stay positive. And then I was just determined. I promised myself that I would be in better shape than before the accident. And of course, that’s what arrived.”

In August, a Cowell representative confirmed: “Simon has broken his back in several places” after falling from the new bike he had tested in the yard of his home in Malibu.
Later, “The X Factor” posted a “big thank you” to the doctors and nurses who treated him. Cowell also shared some tips.
