Tokyo – Simone Biles plans to compete in the balance beam final at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday, USA Gymnastics reported. She withdrew from the other individual finals she qualified for, citing mental health issues.
The beam is his last chance to compete in the 2020 Games. USA Gymnastics has said Suni Lee will be competing in this final as well.
Biles, 24, won bronze on balance beam in Rio de Janeiro five years ago and advanced to the women’s eight final at Ariake Gymnastics Center on the first weekend of the Games.
She retired from the team final on July 27 after a faltering performance on vault in the first rotation. She watched her three American teammates sideways finish the competition without her; the United States took the silver behind the team known as the Russian Olympic Committee.

Biles qualified for all five individual event finals, but withdrew from four of them: the all-around, vault, floor exercise and uneven bars. Lee won all-around gold, becoming the fifth consecutive American to win the sports championship title,
Biles said she was facing issues related to air awareness, called “the winding ones“in his sport.
“I can’t even imagine the twist. I really don’t understand how to twist,” Biles wrote on Instagram, trying to explain how the twisties feel. “The strangest, the strangest thing and the feeling.”
“It’s honestly petrifying to try to do a skill but not have your mind and body in sync,” she explained. “10/10 do not recommend.”
“I literally can’t see the top from the bottom. It’s the craziest feeling there is. Not having an inch of control over your body,” she continued. “What’s even scarier is that since I have no idea where I am in the air, I also have NO idea how I’m going to land. Or what I’m going to land on. Head / hands / feet back… “
Biles also continued to defend his decision to withdraw from the competition for his own safety.
