SINGAPORE – A 10-year-old girl rushed into her mother's room after hearing screams, only to witness the horrible sight of her father stabbing her mother repeatedly.

The horrifying episode left him with post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, including seeing shadows and images of a knife. She was also crying at night, the High Court heard.

Jonit stopped stabbing when he saw the girl in the room. He ran to the kitchen to throw the knife out the window and fled the apartment.

The girl then ran to tell her aunt and older sister what had happened. Ms. Sulastri called the police when she saw her sister covered with blood

Jonit then went to two police officers who were dispatched to the scene.

Ms. Sri Idayu was hospitalized with stab wounds on her face, chest, abdomen and hands. She died at around 4:30 am the next day

An autopsy revealed at least 30 stab wounds to her body, including eight fatal ones.

The prosecution requested a 10-year sentence of imprisonment, while the defense requested
