SINGAPORE – This year 's National Day (NDP) parade has been declared a special security event by the Minister of the Interior under the Public Order Act.

In a statement made Tuesday (July 31), police said the area around Marina Bay had been designated as a special events area . In addition, a special zone in the special zone has been defined for stricter security checks.
While the event area includes Victoria Street and extends to the gardens by East Bay, the special area includes the Marina Bay area, including Merlion Park, Marina Bay Sands and Esplanade – Theaters on the Bay, where most of the festivities will be concentrated.

Persons who possess prohibited items in the area of D & O Special event or who illegally fly a UAV risk a maximum term of imprisonment of 12 months, a fine of up to $ 20,000, or both. Prohibited items or UAVs will be confiscated.
Those who hold public gatherings and processions in the special event area, inside or out, must apply for permits to the police at https: // www .police.gov.sg / e -services / apply / licenses-and-permits.
The police will conduct security checks and checks on all persons and vehicles entering and inside the Special Zone. They will also have the power to refuse entry or to remove a person from the special area if necessary.
