2020 Hyundai Sonata midsize family sedan spied on

A month after spotting our first Hyundai Sonata 2020 test mule in Las Vegas, another example has sprung up thousands of miles away in Germany. The car was spotted at Nërburgring by one of our spy photographers. This version of the mid-size family sedan featured less camouflage, as did a safety cage and racing seats. Do not expect these features on the production model.

What you can expect from the production model is most of the cool body of this prototype. In particular, you will see more curves, more obvious in the window sill, and a wider design than on the current model. Whether it's actually wider, it seems because of the way the headlights sit lower and do not sweep and on the front fenders. The grille also looks a little lower. On top of that, the grille is rounder and blends into the bumper better, and the hood actually extends all the way from the city to the grille.

However, we still do not get a perfect look at the new Hyundai sedan. There are a number of fake boards present, such as the shoulder line that terminates with a super wide rear spoiler extension, plus small outriggers on the lower parts of the doors. The rear spoiler seems to have been added to keep people confused, and there are no tail lights ready for production. Instead, this example still uses trailer lights.

For now, we expect the new Sonata to appear in time for the 2020 model year. We have no reason to expect Hyundai to radically change its powertrain strategy so it will likely be available with naturally aspirated and turbocharged four-cylinder engines.
