SINGAPORE: Six people were arrested and nearly 3 kg of cannabis were seized Wednesday, July 11 during raids of the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CNB).
The suspects, all Singaporeans, are between 18 and 20 years old.
About 2.9 kg of cannabis was recovered in a backpack carried by a suspected 18-year-old drug smuggler, said CNB in a statement. press release Thursday
Another group of CNB officers burst into the home of another suspected drug dealer, a 20-year-old Singaporean who was seen earlier to have met the suspect 18 years old.
Four other people – one of 19 years old and three of 20 years old – were arrested in the same unit for suspected drug abuse.
CNB stated that the police later attacked the residence of the 18-year-old man and found about 45g of cannabis.
Investigations on all suspects are ongoing
CNB stated that the 2,951 g of cannabis recovered is enough to feed the addiction of about 420 assailants for a week.
Under the Drug Abuse Act, persons convicted of trafficking over 500 g of cannabis may be subject to the death penalty.
