PETALING JAYA: The image of Khairy Jamaluddin sitting alone on the opposition side of Dewan Rakyat gave birth to a host of hilarious memes on social networks.
A meme illustrated Khairy's loneliness as similar to when "you send a text on WhatsApp in the group but no one disturbs you".
The same solitary theme continues when "you are the only single person at a family reunion" and "when you come to class enthusiastically but the class is canceled".
One of the memes posted on the Facebook page Seaysik compared the loneliness of the deputy of Rembau to that of the fans of Marvel Films. The same said: "When you expect the end credits of a Marvel movie".
Facebook page Rojak Daily has intensified the creation of the same solitaires inspired by Khairy.
In one meme, he said: "until your friends arrive, only to realize that you have no friends".
One of his memes also refers to the online multiplayer Battle Battle PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) game.
"Your PUBG squad: let's stay together, three minutes later …", we read.
The Facebook page said posted the feeling of being alone: "when you come to school after the final exam".
However, as social media users had a day on the field with the same Khairy, Facebook user Nicholas Ooi Nick felt that the memes were inappropriate.
"I think we should not have more fun, KJ (Khairy) is professional and respectful of the dewan parliament," he said.
Meanwhile, Siva Sangaran hailed Khairy for his bold decision.
"You really respect your constituents and your dignity, at least now you are free to listen to your mind and do what you think is right," he said.
Norshuhada Mohd Isa stated that Khairy was just a professional.
"Really respect him," she said.
Xinwei Yeap said that memes did not mean disrespect.
"(Ca) depends on the legend, it's just very funny," she said.
Earlier, opposition MPs from Umno and PAS came out of Dewan Rakyat after the swearing in of Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof as President of the 14th legislature
Datud Seri Anifah Aman, MP for Khairy and Kimanis, did not participate in the walkout and had stayed.
Khairy stated that he had decided not to join the strike because he wanted to be an exemplary opposition MP and respect the process of swearing. He added that a protest could be done in other ways.
