We are right in the heart of the summer, which means that getting sprayed with a water gun seems like a good way to spend the afternoon. That's to say, unless the water gun pointing towards you is seven feet long and draws a jet of liquid at 2400 psi and 243 miles per hour.

Mark Rober is a former NASA engineer. to build is literally the one for record books. His seven-foot-long Super Soaker is now the best dog in the Guinness Book of World Records, and the video he's published showing his incredible power makes it possible to understand why.

The pistol, which is fashioned to look like the classic Super Soaker 50, which was the brand's first model and the first popular pressurized water gun ever to hit toy stores. This original Super Soaker was able to draw a stream of water at 40 psi, which is fine when you fight your friends in your pool or backyard, but Rober wanted something a little more powerful.

Her oversized replica does not work the same way as the original water gun – there is no pumping and the tank that contains water is in the handle rather than the big green cylinder orients the top of the device – but it's much more powerful. By using pressurized nitrogen to push the water through the tip of the gun, the principle is the same, but the current moves a lot, much faster.

According to Rober, the water is pressurized to 2400 psi. To give you a frame of reference, it's about eight times more pressure than the hose of a fire truck. Yeah, you would not want to get into the game.

Rober shows how powerful the flow is in cutting things in half, like a banana, a hot dog and even an entire watermelon. He even equipped the tip of the gun with an exchangeable nozzle, which allows him to select an ultra-fast flow or a maximum water flow. It took six months to build the weapon, but it was well worth it.
