The fighting spirit of Singapore haka faces hostile reactions

KEPPEL [19659005] A Singaporean investment company, Keppel Corporation, has made a haka for the Singapore National Day.
A Singapore real estate company tried to reproduce "the fighting spirit of the haka played by the All Blacks", and it did not work well.
The staff of the Keppel Corporation was filmed playing their own "haka", in which they applauded on the property, the investment and how they like their work.
A video of the haka was submitted as part of the national celebrations in Singapore this week.

Critics were quick, many Singaporeans commenting on Facebook to apologize to Maori.

"It's so disrespectful to Maori culture! If this has to be in our parade, I'm disappointed with Singapore," wrote a local. "I would sincerely apologize to the people of New Zealand," replied another.
Some critics have described it as a "true case of cultural appropriation".
The short video featured about 36 employees squatting and yelling between songs about their company. They performed actions from the All Blacks haka Ka Mate but sometimes without the same level of synchronization.
A spokeswoman for Keppel said the video was filmed as part of a National Day Parade competition.
The company has no connection with New Zealand. "Despite complaints about the video, it has not been removed from the Facebook Day National Parade contest."
Earlier this week, the European Commission received an official complaint about its "Haka Challenge".
The agency has launched the social media challenge to try to encourage people to stay active, but criticized as offensive and culturally insensitive.
As a result of the complaint, the European Commission s'. is excused and removed the video from all of her social media accounts.
