SG KANDIS PROBES | Former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak insisted that MP Isakandar Puteri Lim Kit Siang of DAP had linked Islam to kleptocracy.

He said this with reference to Lim's statement: "The partial election of Sungai Kandis with kleptocracy in Malaysia". Lim had denied Najib's claim.

"The title clearly shows that Kit Siang tried to link Islam to kleptocracy, what he says is that if BN wins the by-election, that means that Islam is equal to kleptocracy. " Kit Siang also made it clear that Islam is not equal to kleptocracy only if Harapan wins the by-election.

"If it's not what he means, what does he mean by making that connection?"

Najib asked if "Siang Kit should apologize and no longer try to establish such a connection with Islam or with a religion that is not his," said the Pekan. On the other hand, Najib said BN had conducted a clean campaign in the Sungai Kandis by-election.

"I do not wish to prolong this problem because BN is focused on the management of a clean, healthy and peaceful countryside where, unlike others, we have not not to resort to the corruption of voters with free durian or illegally using the school

"However, Siang Kit's ridiculous attempt to link Islam to kleptocracy is very unfortunate," he said.

Lim, in Najib 's statement had criticized the former prime minister for allegedly playing on race, religion and fear when he was in charge. Sungai Kandis' by-election

"Umno lost its undisputed position as a political party with the majority support of Malay voters in GE14 because there were enough Malay voters who were smart enough and sophisticated to see through propaganda and rejected the vicious politics and t oxic of Najib.

"They do not want, in particular, to equate the Malays and Islam with kleptocracy," Lim said.
