Porsche abandons technical specifications on Mission E, which will be launched as a Taycan Porsche. What sports car enthusiasts will want to know the most, is exactly the power provided by the car. The answer to this question is 440kW or 600hp. Torque figures are not offered but expect a lot of electrical transmission.
Porsche also notes that the car will operate with its 800V charging network. It has already deployed chargers in some areas to support 800V. Porsche said when it announced the 800V chargers that you could charge a car capable of driving 400 km in 20 minutes. Porsche now says about 15 minutes to charge the Taycan for this range.
Porsche says that he has a group of 40 specialists who have built all the Taycan car prototypes in his factory. It is unclear how many prototypes there are, but Porsche says that three prototype numbers have been built to date. The car will go 500 km on a charge and can reach 100 km / h from the stop in less than 3.5 seconds. The 600 hp power comes from a pair of permanent-excitation synchronous motors.
These engines combine high energy density with sustained performance and maximum efficiency, according to Heiko Mayer, Powertrain Project Manager. These are the same types of engines developed for the 919 Hybrid racing car that won Le Mans. The Taycan is four-wheel drive, one of the engines propelling the front wheels and the other the rear wheels.
Porsche notes that the Taycan can reach 200 km / h in less than 12 seconds. Porsche also says the Taycan will be ready for the track. To keep the electric motors compact, the wire inside is rectangular rather than round. The battery uses four hundred cells each with about 4V to reach 800V. These engines also require thinner wiring in the car, which helps save weight and increase reach and performance.
