The developer of League of Legends Riot Games has announced a new game mode called Nexus Blitz. In a post written by Michael "SpaceNorth" Chu, gameplay producer, Riot details how these experimental modes differ from other timed content, such as "Experimental Modes"

Chu explains that "the experimental modes also involve testing the waters and obtaining an early community response before embarking on additional months of development to arrive at a final version." In short, they seek to test potential long-term players in a fashion that people can not appreciate – we're watching you, Dominion, which was inevitably removed from play in 2016.
Like the first of these new modes Experimental, Chu said Nexus Blit z will bring "cool and exciting moments," in addition to a significantly shorter 15-minute commitment. The mode features a more condensed map with only one split lane and a two-player jungle – very different from the standard Summoner's Rift map.
In addition, there will be "events" at the scale of the map that are meant to encourage team work while adding an element of unpredictability. If your team wins an event, you will earn rewards that will improve your team and give you the best chance of winning.
Nexus Blitz is available to play on the public beta environment right now, and Chu says that an alpha on the main servers will start in a few weeks when version 8.16 is released. The test will last four weeks and no invitation will be required to try it.
This is Riot's first public attempt to test a new permanent game mode for League of Legends since Dominion. Surprisingly enough, they have not yet jumped on the Battle Royale hype …
We contacted Riot Games for more details on Nexus Blitz and ask if a Battle Royale mode could be in the game. future of League of Legends as an experimental mode, as Dota 2 has added a similar mode this year.
