Marina Barrage celebrates its 10th anniversary with a three-day carnival

SINGAPORE: The marina dam will hold its biggest carnival from Friday to Sunday (October 26-28), an event marking the end of its 10th anniversary, the PUB news agency announced on Monday. National Water Agency.

The carnival will feature more than 100 food and craft vendors, with live performances and a fireworks show on Saturdays.

Visitors can also enjoy a free half-hour boat cruise along the Marina Reservoir to the floating platform during the weekend. Passengers can learn more about the history of Marina Barrage and other interesting facts.

The river cruise is in service from 3 pm to 9 pm and the rides are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The final celebrations of its 10th year of operation will be crowned with a series of one-year events.

There will be more than 10 stalls of street food, including food trucks and ice trucks.

Film screenings will also be organized on Friday and Saturday nights.

On Saturday, professional sand artist and performer Stacey Lee will host an artistic sand performance that will tell the story of the marina dam.

The fireworks will take place Saturday at 20h.

More than 15,000 people are expected to attend the three-day celebration.

Marina Reservoir is the 15th largest reservoir in Singapore and the first reservoir in the city. It serves as a collection point for five rivers: the Geylang River, the Rochor River, the Stamford Canal, the Kallang River and the Singapore River.

The green roof of the marina dam has become a popular area for recreational activities such as kite flying and picnics. Since its official opening in October 2008, the dam has welcomed more than 16 million visitors, said PUB.
