Former Manchester United coach David Moyes revealed that German midfielder Toni Kroos had agreed to move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2013, before joining Real Madrid instead.
The World Cup winner was one of the many players Moyes targeted when he replaced Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, alongside Gareth Bale,
The Scotsman insisted, however, that he get closer to Real Madrid midfielder when playing in Germany with Bayern Munich.
While Kroos finally stays in Germany for one more season, he opts for Madrid rather than for Manchester when he moves out.
The decorated midfielder won the Liga and three consecutive titles in the Champions League with Los Blancos.

He said: "Go to a club like Manchester United and follow someone like Sir Alex after his stay there, stay ten months.
"It could not be a revolution at Manchester United, it must have been an evolution, it must have taken some time.
Manchester United have had their worst start to the season for 28 years, after Saturday's stalemate at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace, leaving them 14 points behind leader Manchester City after only 13 games.
