SINGAPORE – A 55-year-old man was arrested Wednesday (October 24th) for drugging a woman before stealing her valuables from a hotel in Geylang.

In a statement released Thursday night, police said they received a case of robbery at a hotel in Geylang Road around 2am on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman was drugged before the theft of her valuables.

The officers of the Bedok Police Division were able to establish the identity of the man and arrest him on the same day at Sultan Plaza.

They also seized money, several cell phones and jewelry.

Police said he would be involved in other similar cases reported since October 17th.

Anyone convicted of causing poison injury can be sentenced to up to 10 years imprisonment, a fine or caning.

Persons convicted of theft in a home may be sentenced to imprisonment for up to seven years and a fine.
