SINGAPORE – A taxi driver was taken to the hospital late Friday night (9 November) after an accident with a Mini Cooper who set his car on fire.

Police were alerted to the accident between a car and a taxi at the intersection of North Buona Vista Road and Holland Road at 23:30.

Meanwhile, the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) told ST that it reacted to a vehicle fire at the junction of the two roads around 11:40 pm.

He added that the fire had been extinguished with the help of a reel spray and an air foam backpack.

The Straits Times understands that the driver of the Black Mini Cooper made a right turn while the taxi driver drove his vehicle straight, resulting in a collision in the center of the junction.

The photos show the left window of the Mini Cooper completely broken by splinters of glass. The hood of the taxi seems seriously burned and damaged.

Police and SCDF officers can also be seen at the scene.

The 59-year-old taxi driver was aware when he was taken to the National University Hospital, the police added.

ST understands that the man suffered abrasions, while the other driver suffered no injury.

Police investigations are under way.
