A fire breaks out at the Bendemeer café, the inhabitants are evacuated

SINGAPORE: Residents of 44 Bendemeer Road were evacuated early Tuesday morning (July 31) after a fire broke out in a cafe

The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire around 6:40 am a m.

The fire touched one of the coffee stands and was extinguished by the SCDF with fire extinguishers

No injuries were reported, said SCDF, adding that she was investigating the cause of the fire.

Videos of the incident showed emergency vehicles and responders at the scene. Police officer John Paul Fontanilla, who lives on the eighth floor of the building, told Channel NewsAsia that he had been awoken by police officers and had been asked to evacuate [19659007].

"We were woken up around 6:15 by the police to evacuate," said the deputy director, adding that the smoke was "quite thick".

According to Mr. Fontanilla, smoke was seen coming from one of the coffee stands around 6 am
