SINGAPORE: A full-time military national of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) died on Saturday, November 3 after being involved in a vehicle incident in Jalan Murai's training zone.

Private (soldier) Liu Kai, 22, a transporter from SAF's West Transportation Center, was driving a Land Rover as part of a field training exercise when a Bionix vehicle was entered his vehicle at approximately 10:10 am

The Bionix is ​​a series of armored vehicles developed in Singapore.

He lost consciousness and the doctor on the spot immediately took care of him, announced the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) in a press release.

The emergency ambulance service of the SAF and the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) were activated at 10:17 am and are on site at 10:30 am, the statement said.

Private Liu succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by the licensed doctors around 10:35.

"Police investigations are ongoing and an independent investigation commission will be convened to investigate the circumstances that led to the incident," said MINDEF.

"The army has declared an immediate stoppage of security at the army scale for immediate effect training, in order to ensure that all appropriate security measures are in place.

"The army is providing help and support to the family of the late soldier Liu during this time of mourning."

Last month, a SAF soldier died after being hit by a falling tree branch in Brunei.
