A woman brought to trial after apparently allowing a boyfriend to sexually abuse her daughter, News Courts and Crime

SINGAPORE – As a mother, she was supposed to protect and care for her daughter.

But the 39-year-old woman was brought to court on Wednesday (November 7) after allegedly allowing the girl to be sexually assaulted by her boyfriend.

The woman, who can not name to protect the girl's identity, was accused of knowingly allowing the child to be mistreated.

According to court documents, she allegedly let her boyfriend shower with her 13-year-old daughter in a Clementi apartment between January and June 2016.

The case hit the headlines in February when the 47-year-old unemployed man was sentenced to 34 years in prison and a maximum of 24 canes after pleading guilty to four counts of rape.

Seventeen other charges – of legal rape, molestation, indecent act and sexual penetration of a minor – were taken into account.

The Straits Times had previously reported that the girl had called this man "shu shu" or his uncle and had suffered almost daily sexual violence from him for seven years.

The girl was so conditioned by her assaults that she undressed automatically when he summoned her.

She decided to no longer be able to suffer the abuse when she was 13 years old and the police were alerted.

According to previous reports, the girl is now 15 years old and lives with her maternal grandmother.

Her mother said Wednesday in court that she intended to plead guilty.

A $ 5,000 bond has been offered to her and she will be back in court on November 27.

If found guilty of knowingly allowing the girl to be abused, the mother may be sentenced to up to four years' imprisonment and a fine of up to four years. up to $ 4,000.
