The article reveals that a vast majority of nearly 85% of the rocks present in the inner part of our system would come from the small number of planets that formed early. These large asteroids clashed regularly, which eventually caused collisions and in some cases were torn apart by each other due to their gravitational pull. As a result, many pieces of rock did not have a focus and they simply stayed in the orbits of these planets that personify their mother planet.

Each asteroid that traces its birth to the same body from which it was born helps in forming a larger "family" of asteroids, and scientists now use this information as the beginning to find the answer to the question of knowing how the long-lost planets were, and how they composed their composition. In addition, they try to discover why some asteroids act differently even if they belong to the same family.
