Boca Juniors and River Plate have agreed to ban absent fans from attending the two stages of the Copa Libertadores final.
Argentine President Mauricio Macri said last week that he wanted visiting supporters to attend the Superclasico. Only local supporters are present for matches between the two rivals in Buenos Aires since 2014.
The city's security minister, Martin Ocampo, then announced that 4,000 opposition spectators would be present at every stage.
However, Boca and River have reached an agreement contrary to this one to avoid limiting the available seats for their supporters.
"Boca Juniors and River Plate have reached an agreement allowing the Copa Libertadores final to be played without the presence of foreign spectators," said a statement released by Boca.
"It was agreed [on Monday] Afternoon, after a meeting of the presidents of the two clubs, Daniel Angelici and Rodolfo D'Onofrio, at the headquarters of the Argentine Football Federation, in the presence of its president, Claudio Tapia.
"At the meeting, the presidents of both clubs agreed that despite the local and international call generated by Superclasico with the presence of both groups of supporters, this could create problems for members of both clubs.
"In addition to the 4,000 seats reserved for spectators outside, thousands of other seats should also have been restricted in order to leave an empty space between them as a security space, significantly reducing the space available. for local fans.
"Despite this decision, Boca Juniors and River Plate value and recognize the interest of President Mauricio Macri to promote the presence of foreign fans in the two stages of the final that will have historical significance.
"To this end, the two clubs agree to take all necessary measures to make possible the presence of the two fans in every league match."
The first leg will be at La Bombonera on Saturday and the return leg at El Monumental is scheduled for 24 November.
