Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro has pulled out of the ATP final and will be replaced by Japan's Kei Nishikori, the organizers of the London event said on Saturday.
The world number four, Del Potro, is still on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury in Shanghai last month.
Nishikori will join Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev, Kevin Anderson, Marin Cilic and Dominic Thiem in the elite eight-player competition.
"It's frustrating for me not to be able to compete in London," said Del Potro, who last played in the event in 2013, after being injured, the ATP said in a statement.
"It's a very special tournament and I tried everything in my power to improve my knee. Rehabilitation is progressing well, but I need more time.
"Of course, it's disappointing for me right now, but I had a really good season overall."
Nishikori will participate for the fourth time at the O2 Arena in London where he reached the semifinals in 2014 and 2016.
"First of all, I wish a speedy recovery to @delpotrojuan," the 28-year-old said on Twitter. "He had an amazing year. Secondly, I am very happy to join the London field.
"I started my year with challengers and I missed the Aussie Open and Indian Wells. Very proud of the way the year has ended. "
