E-scooter teenager who hit the woman does not want to go to jail, ready to compensate the victim

A 19-year-old hit a pedestrian while riding an electronic scooter on March 16 at approximately 10:45 am.

Approaching the back door of the Yishun Emerald condominium at Canberra Drive, Sembawang, Derrick Gan Zhong Kang decided to overtake another e-scooter rider

Ms. Daisy Lim, 56, was walking through the door at the time

Gan hit Ms. Lim, leaving it covered with cuts. She was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and received five days of medical leave.

On Tuesday (July 24), the 19-year-old pleaded guilty in a district court for hurting Ms. Lim.

Gan, who was not represented, asked District Judge Eddy Tham to give him another chance

. should be sentenced on August 7, said that he does not want to go to jail and is willing to compensate Ms. Lim.

The amount has not been declared in the court documents.
