Former UFC fighter Cody McKenzie suspended four years over fake urine sample

Asking Cody McKenzie to provide a urine sample is like asking Consuela to clean the kitchen.

It seems the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight, who rose to fame on season 12 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), will be unable to compete for the next four years after Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) dropped the hammer at Wednesday’s meeting.

McKenzie (16-11) was suspended for submitting a fake urine sample ahead of his regional fight last September. Two years for “aggravating circumstances” and an additional two years for “disregard for protocol,” according to MMA Fighting, as the “AK Kid” initially refused to provide a sample when confronted at the event.

With all due respect, the troubled McKenzie, 30, could probably use a new pair of shorts the break. His mixed martial arts (MMA) career took a nosedive following his win at the TUF 12 finale in late 2010, to the tune of 11 losses — with six finishes — against four wins.

In addition to his four-year suspension, McKenzie will be required to pay $944.84 in attorney reimbursement fees.
