GDDR5X Nvidia GTX 1060 Officially Confirmed

[ad_1]

A GDDR5X Nvidia GTX 1060 leaky surfaced a while back and we heard that Nvidia might be working on a new GTX 1060 model that comes with GDDR5X memory. The standard GTX 1060 comes with GDDR5 memory so this faster memory should increase performance slightly.

The official site now mentions the GDDR5X Nvidia GTX 1060. This means that the product exists and might be around the corner. GDDR5X Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics cards have not been released yet.

What we can say for you is that this is not a replacement for the older cards. Both cards will be available side by side and you can choose to go with one. Talking about the specs, they are pretty much the same. 1280 CUDA Cores, 1506 MHz clock base and 1708 boost clock.

An interesting thing to note here is that the original card came with the GP106, this new one is a cut-down version of the GP104. Which means that this is a kind of a cut down version of the GTX 1080. Another interesting point is that we are hearing about the GDDR5X Nvidia GTX 1060 at the same time as the RX 590.

Both of these cards are refreshes. The RX 590 might be based on the 12nm process but we are not sure about that. What we do not know about Polaris based. The GTX 1060 GDDR5X will be Pascal based so nothing new here.

The new 1060 might be a small bump in performance but it could not be better than the standard 6 GB GTX 1060. But if you do not want to be a better model then card in the 10 series.

Let us know what you think about the GDDR5X Nvidia GTX 1060 and whether or not you are interested in these graphics cards when they are available.
