KUALA LUMPUR: A nine-month-old baby girl has died after she was believed to be raped by a man on Thursday in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor.
The victim was believed to have been raped, sodomised and abused.
Kajang police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the victim died at 10.30am yesterday after she was admitted for two days at the Serdang Hospital.
Quoting a statement from the mother, the infant was sent to a caretaker’s home in the morning.
“However, the victim was said to have suffered from shortness of breath in the afternoon and was rushed to the Bandar Baru Bangi Clinic, before being referred to the Serdang Hospital,” said Ahmad Dzaffir.
He said examinations by doctors found tears on the victim’s hymen and anus.
Ahmad Dzaffir said a post-mortem at the hospital’s Pathology Department found that the victim’s death was due to a “blunt impact to the Head” as the baby’s skull was fractured.
Bruises were also found on the top left and right sides of the baby’s head.
Police said the victim’s parents lived in the same housing estate as the caretaker and had been sending their child there since September.
Police have arrested a woman, 28, and her husband, 36.
“Urine tests found the man positive for methamphetamine,” he added.
The man is being remanded until Tuesday, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
