KUALA LUMPUR: The wholesale resignation of the entire board of directors of Khazanah Nasional Bhd is a "wise decision," said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng
Khazanah took the decision to facilitate a smooth transition under the new government
"I believe that it is their decision and it is to give the Prime Minister (Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad) the opportunity to decide the direction of the board of directors – either to maintain the former board appointed by the previous government or to appoint a new one.
"I think it's a wise decision, to leave to the Premier Minister, "Lim told reporters at a meeting in Parliament Thursday (July 26) .If the cabinet had discussed the issue, Lim said no, adding that it was to Dr. Mahathir now.
On Thursday, Khazanah confirmed that the nine council members, including the direct General Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, had offered to resign.
In a statement, The Sovereign Wealth Fund declared that it was appropriate to give the new government discretion and reaffirmed its prerogative to form a new council.
